The Las Alpujarras, also named as the Alpujarra, is unique, an area of stunning natural beauty with a delightful climate, it has almost completely avoided the ravages of twentieth century life. Dominated by the magnificent rugged peaks of Spain's highest mountain range, the Sierra Nevada, the foothills of the southern slopes are cut by deep, fertile valleys, rich with groves of almonds and olives, oranges and lemons, cherry orchards and terraced pastures. The villages in the lower Alpujarras, such as Lanjaron, Orgiva, Torvizcon and Cañar all boost the amazing views looking up to the snow capped mountains of the Sierra Nevada. The higher villages of Bubion, Capileria, Pitres and Mecina all have easy access to the National park just south of the Sierra Nevada. The sugar cane plantations here confirm the name Costa Tropical. Salobrena is also ideally situated for exploring the Alpujarra, some forty minutes away. From October to April, you could be in the happy position of being able to ski during the day and return to sunbathe on Salobrena's long, clean beach in the evening. Salobrena is a peaceful but popular village and has a lot of attractions which will make your stay in the area one to remember.
